MDE™ Selected by Peabody, MA, January 2000 – Strategic Reporting Systems (SRS) announced today that its product, MUMPS Data Extractor (MDE™), has been selected by the Department of Veterans Affairs Employee Education System. MDE™ is a COTS (commercial-off-the-shelf) middleware application that natively reads the FileMan-based M/Caché system, extracts then delivers the data and pre-built SQL tables into relational data warehouses/marts, databases or applications. Unique to MDE™ is that it does not require any underlying M-based SQL, SQL mappings, or M/Caché programming to be performed. Within sixty minutes of installation, MDE™ allows a system’s data to be available for use with mainstream technologies. Examples are data warehouse/mart and ROLAP, products such as ReportSmith®, Crystal®, SAS, or desktop applications such as Microsoft® Excel, Word, Access or Lotus® Notes. David Lenhart, General Manager of SRS, commented, "We are excited to welcome this division of the VA into our family. Their decision to use MDE™ to optimize their M/Caché information validates that our technology is highly desired in a market niche, which is eager to extract vast amounts of stored data to improve their ability to respond to their customer base. No other company or product can compete with MDE’s ease-of-use, performance, and simplicity." SRS is headquartered in Peabody, MA. They provide comprehensive, expert knowledge about reporting and database integration. They are the developers of ReportSmith®, one of the most popular ad-hoc query and reporting products in the industry. Distributed worldwide, ReportSmith has consistently set the standard for ease-of-use and user-friendly robust reporting products. SRS provides on-site ReportSmith product training, consulting, and report writing services. This News Release is not intended to express an endorsement of any kind by the Department of Veteran Affairs.
