Release of MDE V2.1 - Reduces Data Extraction Time by
Adding Filtering to Fields
Peabody, MA, March 2001 – Strategic Reporting Systems (SRS) announced today the release of MDE™ V2.1. With this release, users will have additional control over the type and amount of data to be extracted from the VA VistA, DoD CHCS, and IHS systems, thus boosting performance and reducing data extraction time.
MDE™ Lead Product Developer, John Stollerman, explained, “New to this version is the ability for a user to apply a filter(s) on a field located within a multiple (sub-file) of the FileMan-base MUMPS data structure. That added control allows for a more exact data extraction and eliminates unnecessary data being retrieved. All of which results in better data extractions, reduces time of data extraction, and boosts overall performance.”
MDE™ (MUMPS Data Extractor) is a COTS (commercial-off-the-shelf) middleware application that natively reads the FileMan-based system, extracts its data, then delivers the data and pre-built SQL tables into any relational data warehouse/mart, database, or application. Unique to MDE™ is it DOES NOT require any underlying M-based SQL, SQL mappings, or M/Cache programming to be performed at the site. Within 60 minutes of installation, MDE™ allows, for example, the Department of Veterans Affairs VistA, DoD CHCS, and other FileMan-based MUMPS system’s data available for use by mainstream technologies, such as data warehouse/mart and ROLAP, or products such as ReportSmith, Crystal, SAP, desktop office applications (i.e. Excel, Word, Notes, Access), and more.
