New Orders for MDE™ Beat Forecasted Peabody, MA, October 2000 – Strategic Reporting Systems (SRS) announced today in a report made to its Board of Directors, that MUMPS Data Extractor™ (MDE) sales orders for the third quarter ran ahead of forecasts. MDE™ is a COTS (commercial-off-the-shelf) middleware application that natively reads the FileMan-based M/Caché system, extracts then delivers data and pre-built SQL tables into relational data warehouses/marts, databases or applications. Unique to MDE™ is that it does not require any underlying M-based SQL, SQL mappings, or M/Caché programming to be performed. Within sixty minutes of installation, MDE™ allows a system’s data to be available for use with mainstream technologies. Examples are data warehouse/mart and ROLAP, products such as ReportSmith®, Crystal®, SAS, or desktop applications such as Microsoft® Excel, Word, Access or Lotus® Notes. "We are encouraged by these third quarter results. They prove that within the VA VISTA system, MDE™ is the product of choice for healthcare facilities seeking to implement data warehouse solutions," stated Richard Fried, President of SRS. "Users of MDE™ recognize that we possess expert M/Caché knowledge, and understand how to apply it for their benefit. We are steadfast in our long-standing commitment to develop and enhance MDE’s already powerful functionality, performance, and usability." "MDE™ V1.4 is scheduled for release in either December 2000 or January 2001, and the planning and design for a subsequent release is scheduled for March 2001," confirmed Mr. Fried. MDE™ extends the value and life of existing FileMan-based systems, such as the VA’s VISTA, Department of Defense’s (DoD) CHCS, and Indian Health System (IHS) systems. These systems represent the largest healthcare informatics systems in the world, yet they had remained a closed legacy environment unable to easily use mainstream technologies, such as data warehouse/marts, relational databases, or applications such as off-the-shelf ad-hoc reporting and query tools. MDE™ allows these healthcare systems to benefit from today’s technology and application. "These terrific results are significant in that MDE™ was selected over products such as Knowledgebase System’s product KB_SQL, and newcomer products, like Teleos/Enterwork’s VIPR product," commented David Lenhart, General Manager, of SRS. Asked by the Board of Directors why MDE™ was selected over the competition, Mr. Lenhart offered these thoughts, "First, the low cost to high value ratio makes it a very affordable product with a high ROI. MDE™ is an appetizer; it is affordable, easily consumed, and our clients feel great when they see the stunning results they can produce. Second, MDE™ was engineered to perform a specific task – create a way to use FileMan-based data with mainstream technologies and contemporary application software to produce a solution that converts FileMan-based data into knowledge that benefits the user, the organization, and their customer. Our solution is not a byproduct or tangential result of some other aspect of a product. MDE™ was specifically designed to extract VISTA, CHCS, or IHS data as rapidly, accurately, and with minimal network or system performance degradation as is possible. These ingredients combine to produce a great product with a powerful solution for the user." SRS is headquartered in Peabody, MA. They provide comprehensive expert knowledge on reporting and database integration. They are the developers of ReportSmith®, one of the most popular ad-hoc query and reporting products in the industry. Distributed worldwide, ReportSmith has consistently set the standard for ease-of-use and user-friendly robust reporting products. SRS provides on-site ReportSmith product training, consulting, and services. Send comments or questions regarding MDE products, services or Web site to info@srs-inc.com. |
